How I've grown as a student athlete....
Through my years here at Animas, I feel I have grown into a more successful student and athlete. Since I am on the swim team, it can be complicated at times to level out the stress between school and sports. Last year, I had to problem solve and deal with extra work because swimming takes up a lot of valuable school time. I have learned that no matter what, school is always my first priority in life, swimming comes second. During my freshmen year, there were times when I put my swimming career before my learning, and over the year I was taught the hard way that was the wrong choice. I love being an athlete and have been swimming for the majority of my life, therefore it will always be close to my heart. However, having the opportunity to attend Animas is very important to me. Throughout my school career here at Animas, I think I will be able to manage the stress and extra work, because of my passion for both my education and swimming. Last year was my only time to experiment with high school and sports at the same time, although it was difficult to manage at times I do believe I slowly learned from it and am now eager for this years challenging season. The most important thing I learned about myself juggling sports and school, is that I definitely can take on challenges as an individual and am able to solve the problems I need done.
