Brave New World Project
In our Humanities class, we read the book "Brave New World," a book about a dystopia. After learning about dystopias each student chose a type of writing piece. Such as an analytic essay, a comparative essay, an artifact, or a story based on what we learned in "Brave New World." After we chose what we wanted to write about, we each chose to do some type of visual piece that would represent our writing part of the project. If you click on the button below, it will take you to my Humanities page to see more of my writing elements.
Digital Arts Brave New World Visual Piece Reflection1. Why did you choose the medium you did?
I chose to make a mixed medium project. I had many different mediums because i wanted it to replicate a factory. I chose a baby face, several test tubes, and different elements to make sure it looked the way i as wanting it to. I am happy with they way it turned out with every medium I chose. 2. How were you able to get your idea across using the basics (art elements and principles)? I didn't specifically use any art elements or principles because they weren't exactly needed in this project. I used space because I didn't want every little thing crammed together, I wanted it to be spaced out more. I also attempted to use movement because I wanted the factory to look like it was moving but that as harder to do than I expected. 3. If you were able to do it all over again, would you do it the same way or what specifically would you change about your process on this project? If I could, I would have went deeper into the fertilization through my visual piece because it was an important part of it and it was only a part of my essay. I wouldn't have started all over if I had the chance but I would have changed a few things on my visual piece because I wanted it to have more parts to it. |
Above is the visual piece I created for the Brave New World project that represents my analytic essay.

Art History Brochure
During the art history project we learned about many different historical art pieces that we took notes on. After we finished learning about all of art pieces we had to choose the one we were most interested in and make a brochure in Adobe InDesign about that art piece.
Pre-Historic Animal Drawings
While we were learning about art history in class, Roxy had us draw animals at a profile view. Then we scanned the pictures in and edited them in Adobe Illustrator. I uploaded seven photos because I edited the same picture seven times to show the differences.
Animation Project
For this project we were assigned partners to take stop motion animation photos. After we took the pictures we got on adobe flash and edited the pictures to make movies. We inserted introductions, credits, and music to complete and make the movie.
Greek Tragedy Poster
For the Greek Tragedy poster project we had to go off of our Greek Tragedy plays in Humanities. The goal was to make a poster for your play, that reflects the feeling of what your play is based off of. My play is about a tragic wedding where a father leaves, so my poster has a man walking away with roses laid out behind him. If you want to know more about my Greek Tragedy play, go to my Humanities page!
Essential Questions:
1. What makes for an engaging play poster?
An engaging play poster would show the emotion of the play in it. It would catch the viewers eye and want them to see the play to find out what it is about. It would involve the feelings and moods that the play is getting across. The poster should be able to show what the play is about just through an image. It would catch the attention of the viewer if the viewer was interested in that topic.
2. How and why is art used as a vehicle for communication?
Sometimes it is easier to portray communication through an image without having to actually say anything. If you include deep emotion in your image then you don't need any words. The words that you are getting across are more challenging to use within an image or any piece of art.
3. To what extent does a work of art depend on the viewer's point of view?
If you are making something that is only for yourself then you would probably want to include things that interest you and the things you are into. If you are making a piece of art for an audience such as your school and classmates, the you would want to make something that would interest them. It all depends on the audience and how well you know them.

How to Videos
For the how to videos, we had to choose at least 3 videos to watch and then complete ourselves to improve our skills in Photoshop. My favorite and best finished video was the vampire teeth. It was very simple, quick to do ,and looks realistic. All I did was find a picture of nice teeth, select the tooth I wanted to form, and morph the tooth to look pointy.
Teacher Animal Project
For the teacher animal project, we chose a teacher and an animal to Photoshop onto each other. I had the idea to take Mr. Heerschap and put him onto a gorilla. I grabbed his eyes and mouth and copied them onto the gorilla's face. After we finished the main part of the project, we had to get a background image, put our name in the picture, and a second figure in the background. I decided to make the background a rain forest, so the gorilla was standing on a rock. In the background, I put a monkey walking on a different rock. Then, the final thing I did was write my name in a water fall.
Name Project
In the name project, we each went outside and took pictures of things in nature that looked like the letters in our name. For the C in my name I had one of my friends make a C shape with their arms, and I took a picture of the shadow of that. For the A, I got a plant and folded it into the shape of an A. For the T, I saw a tree root in the dirt that had the shape of a T. For the H, I finally decided to just draw in the sand because I couldn't find any H's. And lastly, for my Y, there was a tree branch that looked exactly like a Y. After we found all of our pictures, we went back to school, uploaded them onto the computer, and edited them on Photoshop. This was our first actual project on Photoshop and Roxy was just trying to get us used to using it.
