Proyecto De Cuba: ¿Qué cocinaría Che?
For this project we started by learning about the history of Cuba and Che Guevara's life. After we learned about those things, as a class we went over basic commands in the Usted and Tu forms. An example of a command in English is "Come over here" or "Eat your food now". We practiced those forms of commands and then started our actual projects. The first part of the project was to write a note card in Spanish about Che Guevara and memorize it. After memorizing it, we presented it in front of Susy and she graded it on a scale of 1-10. I got a 10 on the speaking part because I delivered it well and memorized it properly. Then, there were two options for this project and I chose the "¿Qué cocinaría Che?" which means "What would Che cook?". I chose the Cuban recipe for Turrones which are nougat like cookies that are made with egg whites, sugar, honey, almonds, and hazelnuts. We found recipes online and then converted the recipe's into Spanish using the command form for Usted. Then we made the food we chose and brought it into the class for everyone to enjoy.
I enjoyed this project a lot and it was a good way to learn the command forms. It was fun to make the food I learned about and bring it into class for everyone to try. Exhibition was interesting because all of the people that came and talked to me only spoke in Spanish, so I was able to show off my Spanish skills to those people when they asked about Cuba and Che Guevara.
Las Ramblas
For this project, we began by choosing famous Spanish people from any era or time to research. The goal was to find a famous person and to learn all about them, and then to impersonate them for the exhibition. A big learning goal we were to achieve was to learn and practice speaking Spanish, and also to practice using the past tense more, such as the imperfect and preterite. I chose a painter from the 1600's who was from Spain. Each student created a presentation all about their famous person and created questions for the audience at the exhibition to ask them. The exhibition was a new experience for me and for the parents. It was a fun and entertaining experience to impersonate someone else, and to present in all Spanish. I could tell the parents I interacted with learned a lot about our famous people and Spanish they didn't know before.
Cuento De Mi Niñez
For this project we started by learning about the preterite which is a part of the past tense, such as saying "I walked". We made our own stories of when we were kids and what happened during that time. I wrote about my trip to Hawaii when I was 12 years old. In order to write this story correctly, we had to use the preterite because it was something that happened in the past. Then, we attatched/drew pictures of our events on our final draft.
It is a lot easier to express myself in Spanish using the past tense. If you don't know the preterite or can't speak in the past tense, that limits you from understanding Spanish people and writing. Learning the preterite benefits my understanding of Spanish a lot more which is very important in order for me to get better at speaking Spanish.
If I wasn't able to write in the past tense in Spanish for this story, it would be hard to understand. I would be writing in the present tense when I should have been writing in the past. A Spanish speaker wouldn't have been able to understand.

Proyecto De Un Dia En La Vida
In this project we were learning about reflexive verbs and how to use them better. To do this, we made our own stories of a day in the life of a character of our choice. In our story, it was encouraged to incorporate a special day in their life. A day that isn't just another day, but a day where they run into a problem. My character was a frog named Paulo. The problem he encountered was that he cut himself while shaving, so he needed to find help.
A reflexive verb is a verb used only in Spanish, which is a normal verb that has a different meaning, which requires a reflexive pronoun. The verb "mirar" means "to look at". However, if this verb were a reflexive verb it would translate to "to look at oneself". These are important to use in Spanish, because it is a new concept that doesn't exist in the English language. This means that in learning Spanish, reflexive verbs can be a little harder to understand.

Mi Por Que Statement
Estudio Español porque quiero comer comida mexicana, para viajar en México, y por mi educación.
I want to learn another language because I want to travel around the world when I graduate High school. If I know another language by the time I begin traveling it will be easier to travel and speak to people in different countries. If I go into a restaurant in Mexico, I would be able to know what the food is and what is in it, and how to order the food as well. It is also very beneficial to know more than one language because it could be useful to get a job here in the United States, and I think it will be more impressive for colleges and careers if I can speak another language besides English.
